The 3rd game of our campaign. All of our games were very well balanced with no clear winner in the end. Perhaps this scenario will produce the same result.
After some weeks of marching up and down the river Main both sides decide to send piquets forward to form bridgeheads. Good old Arenberg wants a good position to wait what Noailles will do. But Young Cumberland prefers to cross the river and push the French across the river Rhine. So These are the orders to the commanders:
Please be so kind to send your forces out to find a good point for the crossing of our whole army! We fear that the old duc de Noaille wants to attack us on the wrong foot. The Terrain of our side of the river is to bad to defend.
I'm sure that your Forces are strong enough to prevend all foolish plans of old Noailles!
Your most honourable
I) 1 Brigade austrian Infantry
1 x Grenadiers (sup.), 1 x line infantry
II) 1 Brigade british infantry
2 x lineinfantry
III) Independent Unit - Hussars - large
We fear that this you foolish Cumberland wants to cross the river Main. We would not have any Problems with this army of english, austrians etc. - but we want to fight on a Terrain well chosen by our staff. C'est pourquoi we wish that you will cross the river Main soon. We need a strong bridgehead. To make you work easier than ever I entrust you one of our finest units: the Regiment Clare. The irish cannot wait to attack the english. Use all their fury. The irish will form a nice Avantgarde.
For the honour of our king and France!
