Here are examples of my first attempt at figure painting after a layoff of more than 15 years from the hobby. My main interest had been Ancients so I felt that I ought to start with a new period to learn about WSS/SYW via HoW as a rules vehicle.
I have literally had to start from scratch sourcing new paints, undercoat and brushes.
I also found a cheap deal on some Dixon 15mm Marlburian figures and picked up some useful books on the period including some Funcken uniform guides.
It was also surprising to find out just how much is available on line including some very specific websites and Blogs on WSS/SYW .
I made up some T-shaped supports with 10mm square sapele to allow easy and productive painting. I also used a combination of white Gesso and a black wash to pick up the detail.
Pains are Liquitex Acrylics and a satin varnish. I am thinking this is not the ideal finish so will be sourcing a matte varnish option soon.
Standards and drummers base to follow, some accompanying officers and a grenadiers company to finish.
The unit is loosely based on Lord North and Greys Regiment at Blenheim.
