Another HoW game at LoA in Melbourne. Expanded French army vs an outnumbered Allied force, which got slaughtered <sob>. Artillery is nasty. Next time we might play with no Arty to see what happens. Pics are of big cav encounter on the flank, infantry face off and Reusch Hussars lurking in woods. They never got to pounce on the French Dragons as the Allied cav brigade got hammered and the odds were horrendous.

Yes, the League of Ancients is a club I belong to. We meet 3rd Sunday each month. Keith, I agree with the light green game board. We have dozens at the club and I randomly pulled out this one in the morning. The darker green boards do tend to obscure the figs. Damnitz, those were actually heavy guns and during post-game analysis, we found that they were just too powerful, firing canister as my cav charged in, which left them shattered. As you can see, I had little left after that pasting, with the French having an intact 6 unit brigade. I really needed my beer by lunch break! I think on a 6 by 4, we will limit Arty to 2 x 2 gun batteries per side rolling one dice per battery. Still had fun and it's just lovely to get all the eye candy on the table to drool over!
Great looking game. I have to agree about game boards. I was rather disappointed when our club recovered all the tables without any consultation, as far as I'm aware. The new covering material (carpet) was chosen by a member who I later discovered is colour blind. You couldn't make it up. Fortunately I have a much lighter cloth to cover the tables I use.
