The ships do look splendid. I'm currently convalescing after laser surgery on my throats and have set up a solo RJW naval game. Using 1:2400 ships and a (heavily butchered version) of Rory Crabb's Rise of the Battleships rules.
Scenario playing out is a convoy battle with the Japanese running supplies in and a Russian intercept. It's about 4th or 5th game I've played, but the first with an actual scenario rather than just line up 2 forces. It's also first one with several lots of torpedo boats zipping about all over the place. Russian random entry brought them in directly facing main Japanese A/C line so one of the Russian A/Cs was dead in water by end of first move. They did sink one of the 4 Japanese merchant ships though. Moves 2 & 3 produced lots of further damage and a lot of Russian torpedo attacks to little effect. One Russian TB Flotilla has managed to get within mg range of a Japanese A/C but is head on and can't yet fire torpedoes.
Fortunately I have a regular opponent who has the 1904-5 fleets in 1/2400, so I should be able to get the naval aspect of the war there. I thought I might get some of the smaller 1/600 ships for refighting Nanshan and possibly a single Russian big ship to sit in Port Arthur harbour to support the land troops.
Hi Jeff, I game at home, in the Liverpool club and at a mate's in Hoylake (thank goodness for the Merseytravel pass). Currently have Lobositz in 10mm set up at home and will play this, on return from a canal holiday, with another Formby gamer (Lord George Murray on this forum) who will be supplying extra Prussians for the game.
