Yesterday's good news was one of my regular opponents discovering (he's just had a mighty sort out of all his gaming stuff) a batch of 6mm SYW British and French which he does not want, so I have been offered them. Now I will have a chance at some of the western battles in the SYW. They are currently on large bases, so I will probably leave them that way by adding some smaller bases for flexibility.
Indeed they have been painted and there is a mass of them. As it transpires they were passed to me on my birthday - how good is that! They have been painted in a manner reminiscent of staining, so they remind me of the Osprey series on Louis XV's army. The basing will need tarting up, but otherwise good to go, especially as HOW does not use base removal.
They shouldn't take too long. They are Irregular 6mm, some of which I had acquired myself about 20 years ago, so went for a rummage and found a coach, some mortars, more British and French infantry, grenadiers cavalry and so on. Also some painted woodland Indians to move the action to North America. Given my current projects, they probably won't reach the tabletop before the new year.
