Following on from my query about limbers I have had a look at what else is out there for the 10mm gamer in the SYW. I have only found two 10mm manufacturers of C18th limbers - Pendraken and Irregular Miniatures. Pendraken limbers come with a gun and crew for 6pdr guns and heavier. They are all four horse. The Irregular limber is of the shaft type with one ridden horse only (galloper style) and is sold separately. Although not particularly accurate for the SYW it does paint up more quickly than the Pendraken and as long as it is on the same size base, serves its purpose.
Whilst looking elsewhere I found some very nice 10mm central European buildings on the Magister Militum website. More on buildings later.
I have been casting about for 10mm buildings suitable for the SYW in Bohemia/Germany. Timecast do a really nice range described as Napoleonic for the Leipzig campaign, but applicable to fifty years previously. There are also some redoubts with gabions listed as accessories. Total Battle Miniatures do a Black Powder 10mm range in their Big Battalions section. This includes some stone/brick houses, half-timbered houses and an onion dome church, suitable for C18th Central Europe. Supreme Littleness Designs do a range of 10mm MDF buildings, including a half-timbered Germanic house, Bohemian thatched peasant houses and a church. When completed these benefit from a small amount of modelling paste applied to the walls to give a textured finish. The range also includes items such as a wayside cross, drinking fountain and bridge. Magister Militum have a small number of Germanic style houses and a redoubt with gabions. Esconografia, available from Pendraken, produce a number of pre-painted buildings at a very reasonable price, covering Eastern and Central Europe, mainly peasant dwellings, but also a windmill and some more substantial half-timbered houses. One might also consider the N Gauge model railway buildings produced in Germany, but available through retailers in this country and through ebay. Many of these models depict older style half-timbered buildings, city walls and so forth. There's plenty out there to make a dynamic 10mm table.
There are also spare draught horses hidden away in the ACW section of the Irregular website: Extra draught horses TACW 36 so it would be possible to create different options using the single and two horse limbers as base and adding draught horses as needs be or whim dictates!
