I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but most of you may have heard of this already. There is a wonderful, small annual convention coming up in early April here in the US. It's two hours away by auto from Chicago. There are beautiful games to be seen, friendly gamers to meet, and Christopher Duffy.
And if you'll stay in the Chicago area, there's a top-notch military museum near where I live titled the 1st Infantry Division Museum at Cantigny Park. Plus the Art Institute, Field Museum, Museum of Science And Industry, etc. in downtown Chicago.
Leman, I'm sorry about your status, though I'm in the same boat. Which, in Americanized English, means "me, too", though I don't have to pay for overseas travel to get to the SYW convention. I love the colloquialism! "Taking the mick" is one I've just heard recently.
Also rendered in a more received pronunciation as "taking the Michael" and if you're feeling really annoyed "extracting the urine." Recently "are you taking the mick" has often been replaced with "are you having a laugh."

Far from it. Just christened my new war-games room by being beaten in the Take the High Ground scenario. I'll be attending three shows in Britain, but won't have the funds for overseas travel until later next year - and then it will be to the WWI battlefields in northern France and Belgium.
I wish! I have just priced up my proposed trip to Salute and it'd be almost as expensive to go to the States. Train fares, hotel, tickets, food, for me and the missus who has to come as I'm not let out on my own these days.
thanking you,is Liverpool street station the one near Twicherham?
Liverpool Street is on the north east edge of the City. Twickenham is off the other side down in south west London. You would need to cross to, I think, Waterloo, to pick up trains to Twickenham. Transport for London has a good online journey planner.
journey is easy enough if you know what you are doing, but therein lies the devil - the detail!
